!Another Lost Battle!

2:14 AM Posted In Edit This 0 Comments »

For the big time Windies fan... the result of the recently concluded series at home is not a big surprise! Its a trend that has remained constant for ages! But the average fan always hopes!

Though the series was conceded... the battle was well fought! There was a notable change in the attitude of this renascent side which had the Aussies sweat for victory!

The Aussies certainly deserve praise for managing triumph without the likes of the biggies Warney, McGrath, Gilly, Martyn and also Hayden, who was rested due to injury! They are never short of replacements, but surely they are not as invincible as they were! The really admirable feature of this team is that someone or the other steps to fore helming the team to a comfortable position! Even the Aussies had their moments of heebie-jeebies during the series but they never took it to their heads, and of course thats characteristic of a World Champion!

The Windies on the other hand had their moments of brilliance but such moments werent produced consistently enough! The past six months have been really heartening for the typical Windies fan... first ever victory in South African soil... a really good home series against the Lankans and now a not so bad series with the Aussies!

There was good promise shown by a few men who could have changed the fate of the series had they capitalized on the decent starts they had manged! Among the quickies it was nice to watch Edwards and Taylor amidst the wickets, but their opening counterpart Powell being less penetrative this time around! The current pace trio, cloccking good speeds have brought back some sting int the attack which was long missing! And there were noteworthy performances from Bravo and the new bloke Xavier Marshall! Marshall was really astonishing, never seemed like he was a new chap, beating back the attack! And Bravo much to the disappointment of fans couldnt convert any of his good starts into biggies!

The final words of this post are duly reserved for the old war horse Chanders! At the beginning, the series was perceived to be a stroll in the park for the kangaroos... But for this man, the series would have gone the perceived way! Throughout the series, Chanders lifting his bat, became rather a familiar site, invariably standing tall amidst ruins! And his inspirational knock in the second test at Kingston certainly needs mention, Lying unresponsive getting hit by a vicious Brett Lee bouncer... and later continuing with his song as if nothing had happened! He was notably the only one who had unendingly bothered the Aussies! Deservedly the Man of the Series!

The T20 and the ODI series are still at stake!
But I'm a typical Windies fan... So got no expectations, but always hoping!

SMS PEN

D:Scribe is a digital fountain pen that allows users to send SMS and email messages from paper. Just write out the message and circle the person’s name to send. This does away with a keypad and allows you to focus on communicating in a more personal way from anywhere as long as you have a bluetooth enabled phone and a surface to write on. The pen also records everything you write which can be accessed on a computer. Of course for the creative peeps, if writing doesn’t suit your fancy, the D:Scribe also works with genius and not so genius drawings of brilliance.

The design is loosely based on a quill and inkwell where by the quill is the writing apparatus and the inkwell is an electromagnetic induction charger.

Once a message is sent, the status is displayed on the built-in OLED screen. The designers have also expanded its capabilities beyond that of messaging. Should your home electronics and appliances be bluetooth enabled, you could potentially program the pen to input commands by writing in the air. A little abstract but lets pretend this idea is more a patent for possibilities.

TOUCH KEYBOARD

While we love touch surfaces, as people who type hundreds of thousands a word each week we know that there is a limit to them: keyboards. Like this Optimus Tactus, an extruded shape/touch surface/keyboard concept by Art.Lebedev. We really like the soon-to-be-released Optimus keyboard Art but, seriously, how often do you type on your computer?

I can imagine that artists, musicians and video editors would like something like this... however, there are solid LCD tablet displays and Tablet PCs on the market already. Experience shows that, for the time being, it's a limited market. Further limiting it to a keyboard replacement could be economically impractical at best, never mind how practical this could be. The issue of the price is the other key here: by the time a touch surface keyboard could be a commercial reality coming from China via Moscow, touch computing from Apple and Microsoft would be so ubiquitous that it won't make sense anymore!!!

Vantage Point !!!!

9:13 PM Posted In Edit This 0 Comments »
Well done Pete Travis !!! This director has made the movie an action packed thriller. He has worked hard in distinguishing the characters to make it simple on screen. He rewinds the movie for each character and explains their part to make the story. It all starts at Salamanca, Spain. 150 leaders from all the world have gathered there for a Peace summit aimed at extirpating Terrorism. Rex,the GNN news coordinator, is busy with her works covering the summit with Angie's help. The leaders are at the stage. The US President, Mr.Ashton, is ready to deliver his speech. Suddenly he is shot twice- the story catches fire here. The Potus is down. After few seconds the stage blasts. Here it blazes. The rewind starts here focusing the Secret Service Agent- Barnes. Barnes gets the help of Rex and Howard Lewis to find the suspect. Meanwhile there are few more rewinds describing Enrique, a local cop, who hands over a bomb to Veronica. She is the lover of Enrique but he finds fault with her which makes him go to the underpass with a gun. Howard Lewis runs behind Enrique. There he sees his small friend, Anna. The Security of the President had confirmed a threat and had arranged the double for the summit. They are glad that they were smart. But Veronica and Saurez (the Master mind) have kidnapped a man and made his brother to kidnap the Original Potus. And he does it successfully. They take him in an ambulance at the underpass. Barnes co-worker, Kent, had turned a rogue, who also comes to the underpass. Barnes chasing him reaches the place.

The Underpass:

This scene made me pause the movie for a while. The director does magic here creating tension in all minds. All- Barnes, Kent, Howard Lewis, Enrique, Veronica, Saurez, Potus, Anna and the kidnapper are here the same second. Anna crosses the road to get to her mom but she goes shocked on seeing a an ambulance speeding towards her. The ambulance had Veronica, Saurez and the Potus. Meanwhile Barnes, Kent, Enrique and the kidnapper come in face to face. And suddenly BANG! BANG!! BANG!!! Gunshots....

1) What happened to the Original Potus?
2) Was Anna killed in the accident?
3) Was Barnes killed?
4) What happened to the summit?

Well!!! sorry guys.... I won't be telling the climax, because the movie so great that you should not miss any scenes... Movies like these come out once in a while. Lets not miss them.

Vantage Point- Roller coaster !!!!!

Starring:

Dennis Quaid(Thomas Barnes), Matthew Fox (kent), Forest Whitaker(Howard Lewis), Saïd Taghmaoui(Suarez), Ayelet Zurer(Veronica), Sigourney Weaver(Rex Brooks), William Hurt(President Ashton), Eduardo Noriega(Enrique).

!Identity Crisis!

11:27 PM Posted In Edit This 5 Comments »

Its often believed that each individual is unique! Only that uniqueness gives the individual his/her identity! Heres a sweet little story which you would unquestionably love! Read on:

A middle aged woman had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital.
While on the operating table she had a near death experience.

Seeing God She asked "Is my time up?"
God said, "No, you have another 43
years, 2 months and 8 days to live."

Upon recovery, the woman decided to stay in the hospital and have a
Facelift, liposuction and a tummy tuck. She even had someone come in
and change her hair color! Since she had so much more time to live,
she figured she might as well make the most of it.
After her last operation, she was released from the hospital.

While crossing the street on her way home, she was killed by an ambulance.

Arriving in front of God, she demanded, "I thought you said I had
another 40 years? Why didn't you pull me from out of the path of the
ambulance?"

GOD REPLIED,

"I DIDN'T RECOGNIZE YOU!"

Its funny that people spend time and currency to look like someone who they are actually not! Think its better to carry the original identity!

The boy thought for a while and said, "my choice is one really difficult question."

"Well, good luck to you, you have made your own
choice! Now tell me this. What comes first, Day or
Night?"

The boy was jolted back to reality as his admission
depended on the correctness of his answer,
but he thought for a while and said, "It's the DAY sir!"

"How" the interviewer asked,

"Sorry sir, you promised me that you will not ask me a SECOND difficult question!"

"....adversities bring the best out of men...."

Cars Of the Week----Part I

10:26 PM Posted In Edit This 0 Comments »
MR.SMARTY!!!The Smart Car is coming to the United States! And sooner than you might think… The little car that could well be manufactured by Daimler, is expected to join the ranks of tiny eco-cars available in the US later in 2008. Many are excited about this development and hope that it will convince more people that when transportation is concerned, bigger is most certainly not better.
Early reservations for the US Smart Car have started long back last year and still people are lining up to purchase this tiny energy efficient vehicle. The Smart Car is a tiny subcompact vehicle, only about 9 feet long and 5 feet wide. The 3-cylinder engine has fantastic fuel consumption, 42 miles per gallon, and has a top speed of 90 mph. And while it is tiny - one feels as though you can lift it yourself - it is, in fact, surprisingly roomy for something that size. Though granted, your main concern would likely be what happens in the event of a crash. According to the company, the Smart Car gets a 4 star-crash rating, surprisingly good for a vehicle of its size. The Smart Car will cost between $11,000 to $17,000. It is available in three different models, including a gorgeous little convertible.
The Smart Car joins a select number of subcompact vehicles in the US. And while the market for them is still quite tiny, we hope its stylish looks and fuel efficiency will win over those looking at getting larger and less fuel-efficient vehicles.

US reservations for the Smart Car have just started and already people are lining up to purchase this tiny energy efficient vehicle. If you want a piece of the Smart action, reserve yours today at Smart USA!!!!!
Will update blog soon!

Friday the 13th!!!

7:50 PM Posted In Edit This 2 Comments »
Persistent fear of certain situations, activities, things is known as Phobia. Fear associated with the number 13th is called Paraskevidekatriaphobia. (pair.uh.skee.vee.dek.uh.tree.uh.foh.bee.uh)

Today is the 13th of June-Friday. Its believed by many that 13th Friday of any month is very unlucky. Businessmen don't involve much in their work today. Analysts say that the US suffers around $900 million every year, this day. The cause of this phobia dates back to the Norse mythology. 12 Norse gods were partying and it got ruined by the uninvited 13th god-Loki. Loki had planned to murder Balder, God of joy. Hoder, God of Darkness, helped Loki in the assassination. Hoder earned Loki's trust and hence he was invited to be a part of the world. Thus came darkness and evil.

In addition, Jesus was crucified on a Friday. Jesus was betrayed by Judas, the 13th guest at the "Last Supper" ( Jesus + his 12 apostles makes 13).Numerologists believe 13 is an incomplete number. These incidents have rooted Paraskevidekatriaphobia in many people's mind. In fact there are 12 months in a year, 12 labors of Hercules,12 signs of the zodiac, 12 gods of Olympus, 12 tribes of Israel, and 12 apostles of Jesus.

In the city of Florence,Italy, the door number between 12 and 14 is written as Twelve and an half. Many airports skip the 13th gate. Many cities do not have a 13th Street or a 13th Avenue. Many buildings don't have a 13th floor. In some traditions it is believed that Satan is the 13th angel. Dealing with femininity-number of menstrual cycles is 13. The Temple of Solomon was destroyed on a Friday; Indians don't cut nails or hair on Friday. Mission-Appolo 13 failed.

Freaky isn't it ???

Above all we are taught tables till 12. The Schools have standards till 12 only.

The 3 Mistakes Of My Life

11:51 PM Posted In Edit This 0 Comments »
Er, this is actually the title of a book by Chetan Bhagat. The IIT/IIM grad's third book deals with the typical problems faced by today's youth in India. The three principle characters of the book are Govind, Ishaan and Omi, the 3 boys from Ahmedabad who start a cricket shop to earn their bread.

The story revolves around the struggles which these youngsters have to surmount in order to pursue their dreams. The plot includes the real life events such as Bhuj earthquake which rocked Gujarat on the Republic day, the Godhra train massacre and the subsequent riots which resulted in loss of life and property and the historic Indian Cricket team's victory against the Australians at Kolkata.

The 3 boys also find a promising cricketer in the neighborhood. They take this boy, Ali to Australia so that Ali can train along with the world champions. However things begin to take the turn for the worse as Govind falls in love with Ishaan's sister Vidya which brings their friendship to a grinding halt. As the story moves at a frantic pace one of the primary characters gets killed and then the story reaches its predictable conclusion.

Although the book is peppered with romance, struggles and aspirations of modern day youth, this books comes a distant second when compared to the phenomenal "Five Point Someone". But having said that its definitely worth a read. Priced at 95 rupees it does not leave a big hole in your wallet.
